He married Elizabeth, (unknown last name at birth) and the couple had five issue all baptised in Mendlesham between 1724 and 1736. John and Stephen (twins. John died in infancy), Elizabeth, Mary, and John.
Stephen wrote his will on 21 January 1765, leaving property in Fressingfield and Mendlesham to his grandchildren Phineas Aldous and Sarah Aldous (who were children of Stephen's son John), and he also mentions his granddaughter Elizabeth Kemp (daughter of Stephen's daughter Mary, who had married Thomas Kemp). He also mentions his sons Stephen and John in the will.[3]
Stephen was buried in Mendlesham on 26th December 1766, the parish register referring to him as "an old inhabitant."[4]

However, she was baptised in 1710, so would've been only about 14 at the birth of the couple's twins (James had a daughter Elizabeth baptised13 at the time of marriage which was legal at age twelve (a prior note left on the profile does not give the sources quoted in Ancestry. However the deleted source for Find A Grave is now included in See Also.
Stephen's brother Samuel may have married Elizabeth's sister Merable Drane.
James Drane's will mentions a granddaughter called Elizabeth Aldis, who was under 21 when he wrote his will.[5]
