Biography

Edward was born about 1772. He passed away in 1839.

I've extensively researched the Devon Bishop's Transcripts, and determined (without further information to the contrary) that Edward Alford belongs to Edward Alford and Mary Cheldon, of Kings Nympton, Devon (appx. 16 miles from Hatherleigh). Edward Alford Jr.'s death record states his age as 67 which puts his birth year around 1772/1773. This matches to the baptismal record I found in King's Nympton, Devon.

The only other Edward Alford I found in the area was born in 1775, in Bridestowe, Devon, which is appx. 13 miles from Hatherleigh. This would have put his age at death around 64. A possibility, of course, if the reported age was off by 3 years.

So, all things being equal, I'm inclined to go with the birth in King's Nympton, Devon, as being the correct choice at this time barring any further updates.
