Biography

From the research of Robert Allen:

John Allen our 8th great grandfather, b. 1670s and d. 1708, married Ursula (?), They had two known sons: Joseph Allen, b. June 1699 and George Allen, b. abt.1700. John Allen dies young in and apparently quickly, because they had money but he left no will. Thanks to a deed from William (brother of John) we know that Joseph is the son of John. The connection of Joseph Allen to John (his father) is found in an indirect way when John’s brother, William Allen, gives Joseph Allen his cuz, a gift deed for 100ac. This gift was most likely at the time of Joseph’s marriage to Mary? [4]. Also note, the deeds involving Joseph and his brother George. [5][[1]]

From the research of Robert Allen: George Allen our 9th great grandfather, b. abt.1630 and d. 1686, married Mary (?) in abt. 1672. They had three known children, WILLIAM b. 1675, ELIZABETH 1670’s and JOHN b. 1670’s all in Stafford Co. VA. The proof of the sibling’s relationships to George and Mary can be found in afore mentioned book by Robert E. Allen. More relationships between William and John can be found on the Deeds ref., [3]. It is very apparent that George Allen was very successful in commerce in Stafford Colony. I don’t have any direct knowledge his worth but his two sons, William and John when, very young, purchased a deed [Stafford County, VA. DB-Z , pg. 71-3. Date 12 Apr 1699] in which they each put up 50,000 pounds of Tobacco. I assume this great amount of tobacco to be an inheritance from their father George upon his death in abt.1686.[[2]]

John and Ursula Withers married in 1698 in Stafford, Stafford, Virginia.[[3]] (Further research is needed on this).

George through Joshua Allen are covered in Robert E. Allen’s Book Hear Ye, Hear Ye George Cometh to America. 1648. All numbers have work to be done.
