Biography

William Anderson of Broughton, Lincolnshire, was the third son of Edmund Anderson and his wife, Magdalena. His father died in 1605 leaving all his property to William's elder brother, Francis. Francis provided for William by granting him Lea Hall at Lea in Lincolnshire. [1]

William married twice to:

  • Elizabeth, dau. of Sir Thomas Darnell.
  • Joan, dau. of Thomas Essex of Lambourne, Berkshire.[2]

He had two daughters that died young with Elizabeth Darnell. His second wife Joan Essex, had a son and a daughter, including:

  • Sir Edmund of Broughton.
