Biography

The daughter of William Anderson and Iva (Wilkes) Andeson, Belle Anderson was born in Jerome Township, Michigan[citation needed] in 1909,[citation needed] residing with her family in 1910 in nearby Somerset Township.[1] Her father passed away in 1911 and her mother took work as a housekeeper, living in the household of widower Vernon Fouty in Somerset Township. Belle, along with her mother and three of her siblings, lived in Vern Fouty's household in 1920.[2] Belle's mother passed away in 1926 and Belle moved in with her sister, Susan, residing in Adrian, where Belle worked in 1930 as a stenographer at the electrical appliance store where Susan was a sales assistant.[3]

Belle married Frederick Holtz, the son of Charles J. Holtz and Rosina Crone, marrying in Adrian Township on June 23, 1934.[4] In 1940, residing in Adrian Township, Michigan, Belle worked as a secretary at an safety equipment company and Fred worked there as a shipping clerk.[5][6]

Widowed in 1959 and Belle remarried, marrying Charles McGee, the son of Henry McGee and Frances Jones and widower of Ila Pearl McKibbie, marrying in Jackson, Michigan on October 10, 1970.[citation needed] Charles McGee had been married previously to Illa Pearl McKiddie (1908-1969), who had passed away the previous year. Belle and Charles retired to Sarasota, Florida, where she passed away[7] at the age of 84. She is buried at Saint Johns Lutheran Church cemetery in Adrian, Michigan.[8]
