Biography

Hannah Annis was born on 15 November 1679 at Newbury, Essex, Massachusetts Bay Colony, the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Chase) Annis.[1]

Hannah Annis of Newbury married first to Thomas Wathen of Amesbury after intentions were published in Amesbury on 11 May 1700.[2] He was the son of Ezekiel Hannah (Martyn) Wathen.[3]

Thomas died on 19 June 1702 in Amesbury.[4] Thomas was named in his father's will (dated 5 May 1715 and proved 6 August 1716) as deceased, and his daughters Judith & Dorothy were made a bequest of 50s each to be paid when they reached age 18.[5]

Hannah married, secondly, Ephraim Weed on 19 July 1704 at Amesbury.[6]

Hannah Weed was named in her mother Sarah's will, dated Nov 12, 1718, and it was proved June 6, 1726. To her four daughters, Sarah Bagley, Priscilla Godfree, Hannah Weed and Ann Worthen, she left her stock, movables, clothing, money, debts due her and her Indian servant.[7]

Research note

Hannah & her second husband's deaths need to be verified as there were two couples named Ephraim & Hannah in Amesbury at the same time, father & son, and later a grandson also named Ephraim.
