Biography

Reuben Haines Applegate Sr. , son of Solomon Applegate and Elizabeth (Vaughn) Applegate, was born about 1856 at Toms River, Ocean County, New Jersey.[1] He appeared on the census of 18 June 1870 in the home of his parents at Dover, Ocean, New Jersey.[2]

He married Hannah E. "Lizzie" Miller, daughter of William H. Miller and Sarah Ann (Ortley) Miller, on 26 Aug. 1878 at Dover, Ocean, New Jersey.[3][1]

He was a laborer when he and Hannah appeared on the census of 23 June 1880 at Dover, Ocean, New Jersey.[4] He was a widower and a farmer when he appeared on the census of 18 June 1900 at Dover, Ocean, New Jersey.[5]

Reuben died in 1928 in New Jersey and was buried at Riverside Cemetery, Toms River, Ocean County, New Jersey. His memorial has a photo of his headstone and links to those of family members.[1]
