Thomas was born in 1864. He is the son of William Argue and Elizabeth Fenton.
He married Margaret Jane Wilson. They honeymooned at the Thousand Islands. They had one son, Dr. Alan Argue.
Was the proprietor of a general store and the post master at Carp for many years. On the 16th of March, 1905, the Carp Review published a description of an addition to the T.E.'s store: [the store] "is a large and commodious building, giving him room for at least a third more stock than he previously carried. A new plate glass window has been put in the new addition...the latest improvement, together with glass counters, cash register, computing scales, cheese cutting device, mirrors, chairs, etc. makes this well known store the best in the county of Carleton."
