Mary was born in County Fermanagh, Ireland during 1840 to Thomson Armstrong.[1]
Mary arrived in South Australia aboard the ship, Admiral Boxer, on 21 Aug 1855 with her brother, James.[2][3]
Mary married Thomas Cowan in North Adelaide, South Australia on 22 August 1861.[4] The following marriage notice was published in the newspaper, The South Australian Register, on 24 August 1861:[1]
COWAN—ARMSTRONG.—On the 22nd August, at Christchurch, North Adelaide, by the Ven. the Archdeacon, Thomas Cowan, of Port Gawler, to Mary Jane Armstrong, eldest daughter of Mr. Thomson Armstrong, County Fermanagh, Ireland.
Mary died in Two Wells, South Australia on 9 June 1890 at the age of 51 years.
[5] The following death notice was published in the newspaper, The Advertiser, on 12 June 1890:[6]
COWAN.—On the 9th June, at Two Wells, Mary J. Cowan, wife of Thos. Cowan, Two Wells, aged 57 (sic) years.
Mary was buried at the Two Wells Cemetery in Two Wells, South Australia on 10 June 1890.[7]
