He married Mary Elizabeth Jordan (1880–1921) on the 9 December 1901 in the mining Town of Day Dawn (now a Ghost town), four miles southwest of the Town of Cue, in the Mid West/Upper Murchison Region of Western Australia[2]. Edward and Mary had (at least) the following children:--
Charles Edward Armstrong, born 1904 at Day Dawn, Western Australia[3]; and
Albert Thomas 'Bert' Armstrong, born 23 June 1906 (to 1996) in Broken Hill, New South Wales[4].
At the age of 56, Edward passed away on the 11 July 1928 in the outback mining City of Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia[5]. His burial took place on the 13 July 1928 in the Catholic Portion, Section L, Plot 215 (with his wife Mary) of the Broken Hill Cemetery, 72 Rakow Street, in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia[6][7].
