Edwin was born in 1831 and christened at St Georges, Gravesend Kent, England. He was the son of Robert Arnold and Sarah Pissey. He married three times, losing his first two wives to early deaths. He died in 1902, in London, England, at the age of 71. He earned his two held titles, KCIE, Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Indian Empire, and CSI, Knight Grand Commander, Order of the Star of India, for service to the Royalty of England and the United Kingdom.
