↑ Source: #S96 Page: The Daily Inter Ocean - Micahel Arnold Obit (Aug 15, 1881) Data: Text: Michael ARnold CONT CONT An old and esteemed citizen of Blue Island, Mr. Michael Arnold, passed from this earth Friday night. He had long been ill of dropsy. He was a native of Hesse-Darmstade, had birth at Sulzeheim, March 16, 1809. He came to America in 1833 and engaged in farming. He came to Chicago in 1849 accompanied by his wife whom he married in Baltimore, and in course of time accumalated considerable property. He held many posistions of trust and was highly honered. The funeral will take place at 2 o'clock this afternoon.
↑ Source: #S135 Page: Michael Arnold - obituary CONT Aug 14, 1881 Page 2 Data: Text: Michael Arnold Dead CONT Michael Arnold, and old and esteemed citizen of Blue Island, Cook County, died Friday evening of dropsy, after an illness of some duration, at his residence. He was a man who during a long and active career, has filled many offices of public trust, and has ever been found "a good and faithfull servent." Mr. Arnold was a natice of Hesse-Darmstadt, where he was born, in the town of Sulzeheim, March 16 1809. He came to America in the year 1833, while still a young man, and engaged in farming pursuits, attaining by dint of thrift and perserverance, a modrate sufficiancy which justified him in seekeing a partner in life. He was married in Baltimore, and afterwardsmoved to Spring Hill, Whitesides County, where he mained for some years. After that he came to Chicago in the fall of 1848, and went into the farming business, aquiring some property and establishing himself in the estimation of his fellow citizens as a sound and reasonably sucsessful man. He was chosen as a memberof the old Board of Supervisors, a position witch he filled with credit, and he has at varios times held other public positions in the gift of the people. In 1969 he moved to Blue Island, where he has devoted himself sucessfully to his favorite occupation, that of farming. Mr Arnold was very much esteemed by all his neighbors and friends as an upright honest man. The Funeral will take place Monday at 2 o'clock pm. The train leaves the Rock Island depot at 12:15
