Research Note

I (Meredith-1182 16:52, 8 August 2017 (EDT)) believe the burial record to be that of Margaret and the 1710 death to be that of her husband Richard. I don't find any further children of the marriage after 1710.

1682? Birth

Margaret may have been born in 1682 and christened on the 5th April, 1782[3] at Freshwater on the Isle of Wight. If correct she was the daughter of Richard and Ann Arnold.

Birth research note

This is the only relevant birth found and this would make her 19 when she was married. The age is OK and the area is right so in my opinion there is a very good possibility that this is a record of Margaret's christening.(Meredith-1182 04:14, 16 April 2016 (EDT))

1701 Marriage

Margaret married Richard Pittis at Niton, Hampshire on the 2nd of December, 1701.[4] Niton is on the Isle of Wight.(Extract from the linked site below)
NITON, a village and a parish in the Isle of Wight. The village stands 1 mile N E by N of St. Catherine's Point, behind the declivity of a sea-cliff, at the W end of the Undercliff range, 3¾ miles W of Ventnor; was anciently called Niton-Regis, from having belonged to Edward the Confessor; was afterwards called Crab-Niton, from the abundance of crabs and other crustaceans on the neighbouring coast.

1737 Death

Margaret Arnold passed away in 1737 in Hampshire, England and was buried on the 17th October, 1737.[5] The location is not specified other than Hampshire but given that she was born and married on the Isle of Wight the chances are that she died and was buried on the island as well.

Potential Family

Once the marriage and other data have been established for Margaret's father and mother the following persons are potentially siblings of Margaret:
Elizabeth Arnold. bapt. 22 Sep 1678 Freshwater. Hampshire, England. Born 'of Weston' (Southampton) [6]
Richard Arnold bapt. 29 Jan 1683 Freshwater. Hampshire, England[7]

The basic information on this profile seems to be in conflict with the birth date of her son. The date of death on this profile is abt 1737 yet the date of her putative son is 1740 which of course is not possible. Looks as if this is a duplicate of Arnold 5885 as well. There are some linking issues with this person as she is wife and mother on one profile

I believe Margaret Arnold is erroneously married to Richard Pittis as she is in fact his mother. His father is also Richard Pittis 27 & 82 awaiting a merge. This Margaret should be merged with Arnold-5885
