Biography
George was born about 1845 or 1848 [see notes].[1] He was the son of Thomas Ashbolt and Caroline (Monk) Ashbolt.
He married Minnie Jane Hinde on 14 August 1870, at St Lukes, Christchurch.[2][3]
They had children:
- Minnie Caroline (1871-1945)
- William George (1873-1916)
- Alfred Francis (1878-1927)
- Edith Marie (1880-1939)
- Hilda Violet (1883-1964)
- Amy Gladys (1885-1963)
- Sydney Lancelot (1890-1917)
- Arthur Verne (1892-1958)
- Vernon (1894-1916)
He passed away in 1899, aged 51 years,[4][5] and is buried in Barbadoes Street Cemetery, Christchurch.[6][7]
