Notes

Note N570!Source: From the book "Pleasants and Allied Families" by Norma Carter Miller and George Lane Miller, Ph.D., privately published by the authors in 1980.
I located this book in the Genealogical Public Library in Birmingham, Alabama. It is unknown in this book which Pleasant Sarah Pleasant Ashford Pyle married and I also do not know Sarah's maiden name. According to the book, Sarah appears to be either the daughter or daughter-in-law of Bluford (or Buford) Pleasant and she was said to be the sister of Micajah in the "old letter" reported by Rosemary Aiken, though this connection hasn't been conclusively documented. The will of Sarah Pyle, recorded 1844 in Giles Co., Tenn. mentioned her son, Stephen Pleasant, and five Ashford Children, with birth dates from other sources. Sarah Ashford was head of household in Caswell Co., North Carolina in 1800, with 1 female age 26 to 45 yof; 1 female 16 to 26, 2 males 10 to 16, and 2 males under the age of 10. These children and their ages correspond with the children named in the will of Giles Co. in 1844.
A marriage bond for James Pyle and Sarah Ashford was recorded in Caswell Co., North Carolina on 23 Oct 1800; the name of James Pyle was on the 1820 and 1830 censuses of Orange Co., No. Carolina and Sarah Pyle was head of household in Somner Co., Tenn. in 1840.
The book also shows Lucinda marrying a Pyles, Henry Pyles. Her mother married James Pyle.
