Edward Austin was born on July 14, 1826 in Cranbrook, Kent, England, United Kingdom, son of John Austin (1784–1869) and Elizabeth Davis (~1789–~1869).
Ted (23) married Mary Ann Mahoney (14) (born about 1835 in Macquarie Plains, New South Wales) on May 4, 1850 in Nurea Montellorus, Wellington District, New South Wales. Their daughter was Catherine Austin (1855–1933).
Ted died on January 30, 1875 in Burrawong Station, Colony of New South Wales, aged 48.

Edward married Mary Ahh at "Neura" In 1865 Edward held the licence for the "Black Rock"Hotel at Neura when Gilbert and Ben Hall robbed him of 48 pounds in cash and 30 pounds of goods. Edward later worked on properties around Molong and Cumnock as a horse breaker. He died at Burrawong Station.
