Alvin died 21 Dec 1881 in Mainesburg, Tioga, Pennsylvania, and was buried in Mainesburg, Tioga, Pennsylvania. He married Sally Drinkwater Rumsey 8 Jan 1824 in Mainesburg, Tioga, PA. She was born 1 Sep 1800 in Vermont. Sally died 11 Mar 1878 in Mainesburg, Tioga, Pennsylvania, and was buried in Mainesburg, Tioga, Pennsylvania.

NOTES: 1) In 1820, came to Sullivan Twp., Tioga Co., PA locating at what is now Mainesburg. 2) Farmer. 3) d. notice in the 28 Dec 1881 edition of THE MANSFIELD ADVERTIZER newspaper: "...died Alva (sic) Austin of Mainesburg, buried last Friday aged 82 years, Mainesburg Cemetery. Father of Leander Austin, he was an early settler."

BIOGRAPHY: Sullivan Twp. History: Mainesburg borough, taken from Sullivan Twp., was organized in Mar 1859, and named in honor of John Maine, Esq. Among its first officers was Alvin Bolivar Austin.
