Biography

Phebe Avery, born 7 Mar 1797 at Stonington, Connecticut, was a daughter of Mary (Wheeler) Avery (1765-1853) & Luther Avery (abt.1754-abt.1843). In birth order she was their fifth or sixth child, the uncertainty being related to whether an older sibling (Polly) truly existed.

She married Nov 1815 Elisha Burnham (1794-1866) [son of Lois (Grow) and William Burnham]. Their children included:

1. Elisha Edwin Burnham (1816-); married Amanda Lincoln
2. Alfred Avery Burnham (1819-1879); married Delia D. Cleveland
3. Lucy Ann (Burnham) Cary (1823-1902); married Wolcott Cary
4. Phebe Ardelia (Burnham) Larabee (1826-1908); married John Larrabee
5. Mary Amanda (Burnham) Larabee (1828-); married Charles Larrabee
6. Phebe Ann Burnham (1832–1832)
7. Fanny Ellen Burnham (1832–1835)
