Biography

Philip, son of Luther Axtell and Nancy McClain, was born on 1 May 1815 in Pennsylvania. [1]

On 14 Sep 1843, Philip married Eliza Myers Gibbons.[1][2]

In the 1860 census Philip (age 45) was in West Finley Township, Washington, Pennsylvania, United States.[3]

In the 1870 census Phillip (age 55) was the head of household in Marion Township, Greene, Pennsylvania, United States.[4]

In the 1880 census Phillip (age 60), Presbyterian Minister, was the married father-in-law of Jno Rush in Pittsburgh, Allegheny, Pennsylvania, United States.[5]

Philip was a minister of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He was also associated with his son, on the Stockman, a prominent Pittsburgh stock paper.[1]

Philip passed away on 3 Sep 1897 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, and was buried at Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.[6][7]
