Johann Friedrich is on the manifest with his parents when they arrived in Baltimore in 1852. He is not on the 1860 census. It is possible that he died during the voyage from Bremen to Baltimore. Interment records for First German United Evangelical Church begin in 1864. Johann Friedrich is not on the transcribed list of burials at St. Matthew's Cemetery (http://www.germanmarylanders.org/cemeteries/st-matthew-s-cemetery) but assumed his grave marker was not legible.
