Ancestry.com's "We're Related" app places Milbra Baggett as the daughter of James Baggett (ca. 1720-1766): FamilySearch shows him as James Baggett Sr (1730-1771).
Milley and her children are enumerated on her husband, Richard Ryall's 1816, Cumberland County, North Carolina will.[1]Milly Baggett is named as the spouse of Richard Ryall, elsewhere,[2][3] and as her husband's Executrix.[4][5]
Milly Ryals remained in Cumberland County as late as 1840.[6]
There were no profiles in family paperwork for slaves. There were 3 first names in the 1816 will with Milly Baggett Ryals and "Esther". The other two were young men, given to 2 different sons.
There were many more slaves that took the last name Ryals in the same county. That line of Ryals were from France, my line is German. Richard Ryals is our dead-end as far as documentation goes, and he came from Jamestown VA area. The French family was larger and they came from the Port in Wilmington NC.
They have a cemetery with all Black Ryals Descendants off Hwy 421 just west of Erwin NC. Close to were my 2nd great grandfather is buried.
