William was one of four brothers who served together in Company G, 15th Alabama Infantry. Only one, Larkin, survived the war.
Son of Redman Bagwell and Rhoda Corley. William never married. Passed away in 1862 of disease in Virginia. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery, Richmond, Richmond City, Virginia.[2] There is a memorial in the Woodham Family Cemetery in Newton, Dale County, Alabama, as well.[3] It is not known if his remains were moved there.
