He served under Benedict Arnold as a Private in the Revolutionary War, marching through the Maine woods to Quebec, where he contracted Small Pox.[4] He is buried in the Old Cemetery at Hartford, Vermont.[5] The inscription reads, "a patriot soldier of the Revolution died a christian aged 84."
