One source says that John "married a Bailey and left her the day after". Their child Hannah would have been conceived in April of 1722 or 1723 and John gave his power of attorney to his wife and brother in June 1723. John had been away for seven years and not heard from for four, so she petitioned on 16 Sept. 1730 to be allowed to marry again, but was refused. However, she married again using her maiden name.[1][2]
"Elizabeth Bailey married Joseph Bennett in spite of apparently not having been awarded a divorce from her first husband, John Pierpont of Roxbury"[3]
