Biography

George Baker was born about 1815 in the United States, possibly in Pennsylvania. His parents are unknown.

George married Florilla Olmstead in 1842. Their marriage record reads:

January 18, 1842, George W. Baker and Florilla Olmstead. Witnesses: Rufus Olmstead and Dennis ??. By Banns, in the District of Johnstown, Canada West.

Together they had the following children:

1. William Henry, born in 1842, married Charlotte ?Shamiour, died in 1909
2. Eunice H., born July 11, 1844, married Charles James Emmons
3. Hiram, born about 1847, died November 22, 1866
4. George W., born February 17, 1849, died January 9, 1916
5. Alpheus Howard, born September 29, 1851, married Florence Seward, died August 15, 1925
6. Alvina, born about 1854
7. Ida, born June 3, 1856, died June 1, 1934
8. Rebecca Jane Jennie, born about 1859, married Wilbur Hungerford
9. Polly Jennette, born about 1860, died before 1890
10. Mary J, born about 1863
11. Sarah, born about 1863, married Charles Hungerford

George died sometime after the 1871 Census, but before the 1881 Census, when Florilla was noted to be widowed. No death record found.

It is unknown where George and Florilla were buried.
