Note: He and Jennie left Wisconsin in 1879 for pioneering life in Nebraska, settling near Bruning. In 1880 their three small children died in a diptheria epidemic. They are all three buried in the Harmony Cemetery.
Following is an obituary of Francis Asbury Baker:
Death of F. A. Baker
Died, at his home at Bruning, Neb., Feb. 8, 1903, Mr. F. A. Baker, a native of the town of Linden, Iowa county. Mr. E. A. Baker, of this city, a brother of deceased, received a telegram, on Monday, announcing the death of his brother, and he took the train on Monday evening, for Bruning, Neb., to attend the funeral.
Deceased was born in the town of Linden, in this county, September 12, 1847, and was married to Miss Jennie Glasson in 1874, and in a few years afterwards moved to Fillmore county, Neb., where he had lived ever since. He was a son of the late Francis Baker, of this city, and his wife was a daughter of Mrs. Matthew Corin, of this city, and a sister of Mrs. Wm. Callow, of Cobb, and his wife and three children survive him. Of the other family relatives that survive him are his mother, Mrs. Francis Baker, and his brother E. A. Baker, both of this city, also brothers J. W. Baker, of Cobb, Wis.; Oscar L. Baker, of St. Paul; Thomas J. Baker, of Otoe, Iowa; and sisters, Mrs. J. H. Doney, Washington, DC.; Mrs. J. T. Jones, Dodgeville; Mrs. J. B. Webb, Spencer, Iowa; Mrs. C. R. Fox, Cobb, Wisc.; Mrs. J. W. Parmley, Ipswich, S. Dak.
