Biography

Mary Ellen Baker was born in Adams County, Indiana on 22 August 1857, the daughter of Cornelius Baker and Elizabeth (Rawley) Baker (1830-1904). (Her mother's maiden name is listed on her second marriage record cited below.) [1] She lived her early life with her parents in Wabash Township, Adams, Indiana, where her father was a farmer. After he died in 1861, she lived in the household of Jacob Baker.[2][3][4] On 7 March 1876, she married James Myers (1854-1917) in Adams County Indiana.[5] Mary Ellen continued to live with her husband and their children, first in Indiana and then in Michigan, until his death in 1917.[6][7][8][9] Following James's death, Mary Ellen married Charles Girard on 12 August 1918 in Alpena, Michigan.[10] The couple lived together as of 1920 and 1930.[11][12] Mary Ellen died in Washginton Township, Adams, Indiana on 3 January 1935, and was buried in Bunker Hill Cemetery in Geneva, Adams, Indiana on January 6th.[1][13]
