Sylvester Baldwin was born in Buckinghamshire, England.

Sylvester, the third son of John Baldwin "of the Hayle" was born say 1530 at Wendover.[1][2]

Marriages and Children

Sylvester was married twice. He married 1) Agnes Unknown (ca. 1555-1568), who was the mother of his three children:[1][2]

  1. John Baldwin (b. ; d. bef. 1592)
  2. Avelyn Baldwin (b. ; d. 23 Jan 1586, Aston Clinton) m. 20 Jun 1575 at London, Triamore Harvey (-1621)
  3. Thomas Baldwin (b. ; d. 9 Jan 1619/20, Aston Clinton) m. 1) Rebecca Unknown (-1590); m. 2) 6 Jul 1590 at Aston Clinton, Jane Hayle (-1628)

Sylvester married 2) Agnes Unknown (1593/4), likely the widow of Sylvester Bacheler (-1564) in December 1568 at Aston Clinton.[1]There were no children from this union.

According to his father's will, in 1564/5 Sylvester was bequeathed certain lands in Wendover and Aston Clinton, called Pleadells.[3]

Sylvester was executor of his brother Nicholas in 1581.[2]

Death, Burial and Will

Sylvester Baldwin died and was buried on 3 July 1592 in his 62nd year at Aston Clinton.[2]His will was dated on 25 June 1592, listing himself as from St Leonards in the parish of Aston Clinton. The will was proved on 5 October 1592 by his son Thomas, who was also the executor, in the Court of Archdeaconry of Buckinghamshire.[1][2] The overseers were Henry and Ralph Baldwin. Mention in the will were son Thomas, wife Agnes, and several grandchildren.[1]
