Biography
Emma Jane Ball was born 28 December 1850 in Kingsbridge, Devon, England (the birth was registered in the following year) [1]. Her father is not (yet) known, her mother was Jane Ball. When Jane later married Henry Damerell in 1857, he raised Emma as his own child, and she had four half-sisters and two half-brothers.
