Paternal relationships are confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Paul Ballard, FTDNA kit #B2669 and BPB have 722,661 shared variants in a Big Y 700 FTDNA test thereby confirming their direct paternal lines back to their MRCA John Ballard born 1683.
Paternal relationships are confirmed through Y-chromosome DNA testing. Paul Ballard and Delos Ballard Jnr match on 36 of 37 markers & DYS449 is one different. Since DYS449 has a comparatively fast mutation rate this is not unexpected & the result confirms a genetic relationship back to the MRCA John Ballard born 1714.
