Biography
"Josie" Bankes Gardner was born in 1857 in Illinois where she lived until the 1930s when she moved to St. Louis, MO where she died in 1941. She was the second child of five, and the daughter of Isaac Charles Bankes and his wife Emily Jane Keyes. (Isaac immigrated to Illinois from England sometime before 1852.) She is buried in Caledonia Cemetery in Sparta, IL in the Gardner family plot.
