Biography

Emma Jane Barker (1875-1960) was born in Baffin Street, Liverpool on the 17th February 1875. She was the daughter of Robert Barker and Elizabeth Maddocks. ^[1]
She was christened on the 29th April 1875 at St Barnabas' church, Liverpool. ^[2]

A couple of years later they moved onto Arnold Street, Toxteth Park ^[3] and she spent the next 20 years there. ^[4] Her father died in 1899 and her mother was also in failing health by 1901 ^[5]

Emma trained as a nurse and in 1906 was living on York Place, Chorlton on Medlock in Manchester. She married a railway clerk, John Allin, at St John Chrysostom's church on the 9th June 1906. ^{[6] [7]} They lived at Belmont Road, Ashton on Mersey in Cheshire in 1911. They did not have any children. ^[8]

The subsequently lived in Ambergate, Derbyshire in 1931 where John died leaving Emma widowed. ^[9]

She moved down to Brighton settling at Withdean Court in Brighton ^[10] She lived there until her death on the 14th July 1960. ^{[11] [12]}
