Biography

Birth and Upbringing: Johan was born in 22 Apr 1882. He was the son of Johannes Hendrikus Barnard and his wife Maria Johanna Cornelia.
Family: His wife was Magdalena Susara Gertruida Johanna (last name at birth not known) whom he married on 9 October, 1909 at Hartley, Southern Rhodesia. There were four children from the union: Alida Maria (became a McNeilage), Anthonie Christiaan, Johan Christiaan, and Maria Johanna (became Van Vuuren).
Occupation: During his life time, Johan was a farmer.
Demise: Johan died on 17 May 1954, aged 72, at Enkeldoorn, Mashonaland, Southern Rhodesia. Cause of death cited as Congestive cardiac failure. ^{[1] [2]}
Burial: Johan Barnard was buried at Chivhu Old Cemetery, Chivhu, Mashonaland East Province^{[3] [4]}
