James Robert (Bob) Barnett, 71, Of Round Rock, Texas, went home to be with his Lord and Savior April 21, 2011.

Bob graduated from Baylor University in 1961 where he received a B.B.A. degree and lettered in baseball three years. He was awarded the "Sportsman of the Year" trophy in 1961, and held the accomplishment of "Pitcher Who Won the Most Games at Baylor" for many years until the number of games played in a single season were increased. Bob spent many years in the financial industry, educating, promoting, and selling life insurance and securities to help others secure their futures. He was a past member of Great Hills Baptist Church and, more recently, Anderson Mill Baptist Church, prior to moving To Round Rock. Over the years, he participated in numerous clubs such as Junior Achievement, Little League Baseball, and several service organizations.

Bob was born May 24, 1939, in Waco, Texas to J. A. Barnett and Beerah Holland Barnett, both of Abbott and Waco, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sondra Stolte Barnett, three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grand daughter. Bob's eldest daughter Shirley Pruitt and husband, Jeffrey, live in Pflugerville, TX; their two children, Davis Pruitt and wife Jana, (great-grand) daughter, Kalleigh, live in Clute, TX; Leslie Pruitt, of Pflugerville, TX. Bob's son J. Eric Barnett and wife Lisa Ray Barnett, live in Buda, TX; their four children, daughter, Jennifer Vonne and husband, Tony, live in Buda, Eric Barnett, Jr, lives in Spring, TX, Jonathan Barnett, lives in Kyle, TX, and step-grandson, Stephen Henry, lives in Austin, TX. Bob's youngest daughter, Lynda Barnett lives in Round Rock, TX. Bob is also survived by two cousins, Ms. Jean Harman lives in Waco, TX and Ms. Debbie Ryan lives in Grapevive. Bob has also left behind many friends and neighbors who will miss his great humor, charm, and charisma.

Any memorials should be sent to The American Heart Fund, The Diabetes Fund, or The Baylor Lettermen's Association.

NOTES about obituary:
