Biography

  • After Mr. John White died in 1744, Katherine then married Robert Brane per Louisa County Deed Book C page 72 and the St. Paul's Parish Vestry Record.
  • Katharine (unk)(White) Brane's maiden name, birth date and location, the date of her marriages to John White and Robert Brane/Brain, and her subsequent death date, age at death, and death location are unknown at this time.
  • The only known information about Katherine (unk) (White) Brane/Brain is the information contained in the Louisa County Deed Book C, p. 72, which after comparing it to the Confessions of Faith, described below, conclusively establishes that the Katherine who married John White, dec. ca 1744, was NOT the Katharine (unk) White, (b. ca 1691, who married John White, b. ca 1695; because BOTH John and Katharine White, who lived in Hanover Co, VA, died in December 1758.
  • The Confession includes the signature of Elizth White , April 13, 1784; she was the wife of Barrett White, a son of John and Katharine White (both dec. 1758). The Confession entry states: " John White Senr. Departed this Life the 27th Day of December 1758 being in the 63d year of his Age. Mrs. Katharine White his wife Departed this Life the 30th Day of December 1758 being in the 67th year of her age." The Confession also includes a list of the children of Barrett and Elizabeth White.
  • The relationship of John White, dec. ca 1744, and John White, dec. 1758, is also shown in records pertaining to real estate.
  • Additionally, DNA testing has established that John White, dec. ca 1744, was the father of John White, dec. ca 1758; therefore it is assumed , but not established, that John White, dec. ca 1744, had an earlier wife before Katherine (unk) (White) Brane; and John White, dec. ca 1744, and his first wife also had children, including John White (dec. 1758); however, the information established by extensive Y DNA testing by the familytreedna Hanover Co project, is that John White, dec. 1744, was the father of John White, dec. 1758. The DNA testing also has established a relationship between male descendants of at least one of the children of John White, dec. ca 1744, and Katherine(unk) (White) Brane and male descendants of John and Katherine White (both desc. 1758).
