Reuben appears in the U.S., Union Soldiers Compiled Service Records, 1861-1865 with an enlistment date of 1864 for the Forty-fifth Infantry AND Forty-fifth Militia AND Forty-sixth Infantry, A-L. These records should be obtained and included here.[10]
An obituary appeared for Reuben in the Chariton Courier (Keytesville, Missouri) on 11 August 1905:
"Reuben Bartee, an old and highly-respected citizen, died Thursday, August 3, 1905, at the residence of his son, George, near Rothville. Mr. Bartee was 85 years of age, and had gradually declined in health since receiving a fall almost a year ago and breaking his hip."
