Biography

Lusylvia Bartlett was born on February 9, 1824, in Bethel, Maine, to Ebenezer and Lois (Powers) Bartlett. On October 31, 1843, she married Adams Twitchell of Milan, N. H. They resided at Milan, where they raised their five children: Claudius A., Virtue F., Lois A., Helen Mar and Cassius M. C. For two of the four years her husband was engaged in lumbering operations in Canada, she and her children lived in Lancaster so they could be educated in the academy there. She was "a lady of refinement and ability, who looketh well to the ways of her household".^[1]
