James Bartlett was an Assisted Immigrant to New South Wales.
James was born in 1849. He is the son of George Bartlett and Mary Gillett. James's birth was registered in the Apr-May-Jun quarter of 1849 in the Langport district.[1] James was baptised on 1 May 1849 in Pitney, Somerset, England.[2]
In the 1851 census James (age 1) was the son of George Bartlett in Pitney, Somerset, England.[3]
James immigrated to New South Wales with his parents and siblings on the 'Mangerton' arriving on 23 August 1855. [4]
In 1869, James married Sarah Austin in Sydney. [5] Sadly, she died in 1871. [6]
In 1874, James married for a second time to Lucy Coleman. [7]
He died in 1929. [8] His funeral notice mentioned his daughter Alice Petty, his eldest daughter from his first marriage, as well as the children from his second marriage. [9]

George and Mary Ann Bartlett moved to Australia on the immigrant ship Mangerton, departing Plymouth 22 April 1855, arriving Sydney 28 July 1855. They arrived with their four sons, Henry, 15, Josiah, 13, John, 8, and James, 6.[12]

Bartlett-2452 and Bartlett-2178 appear to represent the same person because: From death and funeral notices, these are the same person. He married twice. I've added numerous sources, particularly to Bartlett-2178 confirming that he was the father of the children from both marriages. Baptism source is for 1 May 1849, and birth registration was in the second quarter of 1849. Thanks for reviewing.
