Biography

Darel Paul Bartschi died peacefully at home on June 24, 1994.

He was born May 19, 1911 in Nounan, Idaho to Charles and Bertha Bartschi. He married Mabel Feinauer on June 13, 1933 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died October 28, 1993.Darel was a Certified Public Accountant in the Salt Lake City and Heber areas for many years. He received several Distinguished Service Awards from the National and East Millcreek Chapter Sons of Utah Pioneers, and wrote articles which were published in the Ensign and Pioneer magazines.

Hobbies included photography, writing poetry, prose, and historical articles. He received the Odessa Barrett Memorial Award for his multi-media presentation, "The Desert Beckons." Darel was a Scout Master in Logan for 22 years and financial clerk in the Forest Dale Ward for ten years. For the past 30 years he has served in various capacities in the East Millcreek 4th Ward.

In his 73rd year he served in the Hartford Connecticut Mission at the Joseph Smith Memorial, Sharon Vermont, with Mabel, his companion and wife of 60 years.

Darel is survived by daughters, Karen Shields, San Diego; Joyce Wall, Bountiful; Susan Domina, Carson City; Janet Gracey, Sandy; Gayle, Salt Lake City; and a brother, Rulon R. Bartschi, Shelby, Montana. He was a loving grandpa to 24 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 28, 1994 at 10:00 a.m. in the East Millcreek 4th Ward, 3103 East 3600 South. The family will greet friends on Monday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, and at the Church on Tuesday from 8:45-9:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
