Biography

James was born about 1785. He is the son of Michael Baylor and Margaret Creveling. Second marriage Mar 16, 1830 by Rev J R Castner in Mansfield Twp, NJ to Sarah Gaston.

• Fact: http://familysearch.org/v1/LifeSketch James D. was a private in the union army. He enlisted 11 August 1862 into Company B 15th Reg. New Jersey. He died in a skirmish that took place in Spotsylvania Court House, Virginia. From Fold3:

"On the 12th the regiment dashed through
the abatis before the Confederate works, swept over a portion
of the breastworks, which for a time it stoutly held, driving
out the Confederates, or bayoneting those who tenaciously clung
to the position. But the regiment was forced to fall back and
when Col. Campbell gathered his shattered battalion only 75
were found. Forty bodies, or nearly one-fifth of the whole
regiment, lay on the breastwork, in the ditch or on the narrow
open space in front. " Register of Officers and Men of New Jersey in the Civil War 1861-65
