Biography

John Beckinsale was born in about 1784. [1] [2]

John Beckinsale and Esther Beckinsale, both of the parish, were married by licence at Bampton parish church on 2 November 1830. [3]

In 1841 John Beckinsale was living in Back Lane at Aston in Oxfordshire with Esther Beckinsale (presumably his wife) and their children. His age was given as 50, implying a birth date between 1786 and 1791. He was said to have been born in Oxfordshire. He was a wheelwright. [1]

John Beckinsale, carpenter and wheelwright, died at Aston near Bampton on 19 January 1845, "leaving a large family to lament their loss". [2] [4]

Research Notes

John was clearly significantly older than Esther, and had children from an earlier marriage. There doesn't seem to be an obvious baptism for him at Bampton though.

Judging by the recorded occupations from 1813, John's first wife may have been Charlotte Bartlett, married 1809. However, another couple, who may be different people, called John and Charlotte Beckinsale had children baptised at Shifford at the same time.

DNA Connections
It may be possible to confirm family relationships with John by comparing test results with other carriers of his Y-chromosome or his mother's mitochondrial DNA. However, there are no known yDNA or mtDNA test-takers in his direct paternal or maternal line. It is likely that these autosomal DNA test-takers will share some percentage of DNA with John:
