OBITUARY

STEPHEN ROY BEECROFT

It is with deep regret that we record the passing on December 28, at Gloucester House, of a widely popular Wilberforce resident in Mr. Stephen Roy Beecroft, after a short illness. A native of Wilberforce, deceased had (with the exception of 12 years at Croydon after his marriage) lived in that centre all his life, and en- joyed a deserved respect which made the news of his passing a sad occasion for a host of friends through out the Hawkesbury. In his earlier life he was engaged in poultry farming, and later took over the working of a farming property, in partnership with his brother-in-law, Mr. Geo. Greentree, in which he was engaged up to the time of his final illness.

A member of the School of Arts committee, and one who took a keen interest in all public affairs in his centre, while giving support to all charitable movements, he was a good citizen and neighbour whose loss has been greatly felt in the little community. In addition to his wife and one daughter, Mrs. Jack Daley (Wilberforce), deceased is survived by one brother, Mr. E. T. Beecroft( Wilberforce) and three sisters, Mesdames T. Cambridge (Windsor), R. Turnbull and Claude Beecroft (Wilberforce), and to the bereaved relatives general condolences of their friends are extended in their loss. The funeral took place on December 29, when the remains were cremated at Rookwood, the Rev.H. H. Davison (Wilbevforce) performing the last rites.

  • Stephen lived at "Bleak House", Wilberforce and has a Memorial at St. Matthew's Anglican Church, Windsor (E-02).
