Biography

Florence M Beeler was born on 17 September 1860, in Clementsport, Annapolis, Nova Scotia. Her father was James Beeler and her mother was Eliza Ritchie. She married Thomas Sidney Pyne on 9 January 1880, in Princedale, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada. ^[1]

Married 9 Jan 1880 at Princevale by licence by Rev. James M. PARKER, Baptist at Clementsport, Thomas S. PINE, aged 28, bachelor, farmer, of and born Clementsvale, son of David and Jane PINE, farmer, AND, Florence BEELER, aged 19, spinster, of and born in Princevale, daughter of James and Elizabeth BEELER, farmer. (Digby County Marriage Register 1880, page 112, no. 5) Married at James BEELER’s residence. Bond dated 6 Jan 1880, cosigner: William TURPIN of Clements, seaman. He signed PYNE. (Digby County Marriage Bonds and Licences, 1880, no. 5) Married 9 Jan 1880 (9th inst.) by Rev. J.M. PARKER, Thomas S. PYNE, AND, Miss Florence BEELER, daughter of James BEELER of Princeville. ^[2]

They were the parents of at least 1 son and 2 daughters.

The Census of 1901 shows her living with Thomas in Annapolis, Nova Scotia.^[3] She moved to Saskatchewan with her husband and family in 1910. She is listed as a resident of Humboldt, Humboldt No. 370 Saskatchewan in the Census of 1911. ^[4] The Prairie Provides Census of Canada, 1926, shows Florence, age 64, living with Thomas, age 74 and son Everett, daughter-in-law Flora and Grandsons Stanley, age 3 and Raymond, age 2 at Last Mountain, Mount Hope No. 279, Saskatchewan, Canada ^[5] After her husband's death, she moved back to Nova Scotia with her son Everett and his family in 1934. She died on 12 January 1935, in Clementsport, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada, ^[6] at the age of 74, and was buried in Clementsvale, Annapolis, Nova Scotia, Canada.

The Weekly Monitor, Bridgetown, Wednesday, January 23, 1935 Clementsport Mrs Florence M Pyne died here at her home on Saturday evening. The late Mrs Pyne was born at Princedale, Annapolis Co. Sept 17th, 1860, and was one of twelve children of the late James and Eliza Beeler. In 1879 she married Thomas S Pyne who predeceased her 6 years ago. Four children were born to them: Everett at home; Nora, Mrs Harry Chute, Nokomis, Sask.; Annie May, Mrs Fred Robar, having died at Nokomis 5 years ago; 1 son died in infancy. In 1919 she moved with her family to Saskatchewan and settled near Nokomis, where she lived until 2 years ago when she returned with her son and his family to make her home in Nova Scotia. Beside her children she is survived by 1 sister, Mrs Corey O Long, Clementsvale, 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild. She was a member of the Clementsvale Baptist Church where the service was held on Tuesday afternoon, Jan 15th, and where the remains were laid to rest. ^[7]
