James Wilson Bell was born on 6 May 1853 in Pontotoc, Pontotoc, Mississippi, United States. His parents were William Wilson Bell (1827 - 1894) and Mary Adeline (Carr) Bell (1832 - 1906).
James died on 27 Oct 1925 in Memphis, Shelby, Tennessee aged 72.[1][2]

J. W. Bell Succumbs. Long Illness Proves Fatal to Native of Mississippi
James Wilson Bell, aged 72, 2221 Jefferson Avenue, died last night at his residence, following a lingering illness. Mr. Bell had resided in Memphis seven years. He was a native of Mississippi. Mr. Bell is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Flournoy Bell, and four daughters, Mrs. H.P. Hurt, Mrs. E. M. Carr, Mrs. R. L. Campbell, and Mrs. Whitfield King. The body will be sent to Pontotoc, Miss., on Thursday morning, where funeral and burial services will be held. J. T. Hinton & Son have charge of the arrangements.
