She immigrated to Australia in 1833 aboard the ship Surrey II with her mother and siblings, Ann, Patrick and Catherine to join their father who was a convict that had been transported to Australia in 1828 for stealing oats. [2]
Margaret married Joseph Shepherd (1806 - 1873) on 9 Feb 1835 in Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia. [3]
Margaret died on 22 Mar 1864 in Parramatta, Colony of New South Wales, Colonial Australia aged ~48.[4] She is buried in St Patrick's Cemetery, Parramatta. [5]
