David was born in 1795 in Halbeath Dunfermline. He was the son of Henry Beveridge and Janet Whyte. [1] David was a collier as was his father before him. Born in Fife he most likely moved to Ayrshire for employment. By 1861 David had listed his occupation as former coal miner. Perhaps ill health had meant he could no longer work. Listed in the household is his wife Margaret and two daughters. Isabella age 20 and Mary age 18. [2]He passed away in 1864 of a long standing Asthmatic complaint. He was survived by his wife Margaret Russell. His brother James was the informant on the death certificate. [3]
