Biography

William was born in 1847. He was the son of Joel Biddle and Louisa Stillwell. William lived with his parents and siblings on the family farm until his marriage to Malinda Odell.[1][2]

He married Malinda 11 March 1869 at Huron County, Ohio. [3]About a year later, Malinda gave birth to their first son, Joel William Biddle. The family lived at Clarksfield, Huron Co., Ohio, for a few years, and then moved to Swan Creek, Fulton County, Ohio. During this time, Malinda gave birth to two more boys, Frank (1872) and James Henry (1875). By 1879, the family had moved to Pittsfield, Lorain County, Ohio, where their youngest child, Libbie Estella Biddle was born, and where the family was listed in the 1880 U.S. Census. William worked as a farmer.[4][5]

Malinda died 8 March 1883 at Pittsfield, Ohio. Her remains are buried at the Pittsfield Cemetery there, and her tombstone is inscribed with the date of her death. [6] Buried with her are the remains of a daughter, Alice May Biddle, who was born July 1882 and died 8 January 1883, at the age of six months.[7]

William and Malinda's child, Estella, was adopted by John Burrows and wife Martha Alice (Burge) Burrows when she was about four years of age.

At some point, but certainly by 1900, William, along with his son, Frank, moved to Osceola County, Michigan. William was a farmer and Frank was working as a night watchman. In 1910, William was still living in Osceola, but Frank had moved with his wife to St. Paul, Minnesota. [8][9]

William most likely died between 1910 and 1920. He is not found in the 1920 census. No death record has been found for him, either in Michigan or Minnesota. He most likely died about 1915 in Michigan. More research is needed.
