William was a Private in Company C of the 60th Georgia Infantry and fought for the Confederacy according to a marker that has been placed in the cemetery for him.
William passed away June 24, 1900 in Walker County, Georgia and was laid to rest at the Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery in Walker County, Georgia, United States.
