William Bird was born in Appalachia, in Tennessee.

William was born April 16, 1836 in Tennessee, United States. He was a son of Jacob Bird and Nancy Brickey.

William married Mary Whitworth on October 14, 1858 in Catoosa County, Georgia, United States. William and Mary had the following children:

James W. Bird
Thomas J. Bird
John B. Bird
Martha Bird

William was a Private in Company C of the 60th Georgia Infantry and fought for the Confederacy according to a marker that has been placed in the cemetery for him.

William passed away June 24, 1900 in Walker County, Georgia and was laid to rest at the Center Point Baptist Church Cemetery in Walker County, Georgia, United States.
