She married Thomas Speer in 1873[1]
Sarah passed away in 1923 age 72 [2].
"The death occurred last night of an old resident of Auckland, Mrs. Sarah Speer, age 71, who with her husband, Mr Thomas Speer, were among the earliest settlers of Howick where they carried on farming operations. They left the farm some six or seven months ago, and came to live at Dargaville with their daughter, Mrs F.O. Peat. Mr Speer is a Maori War veteran and is in his 83rd year. They have four sons, Messrs. Richard Speer (Howick), J. Speer (Dargaville), W. Speer (Mangere), and T.N. Speer (Auckland), and four daughters, Mesdames Lowe (Napier), Scelley (Remuera), F.O. Peat (Dargaville), and W. Wright (Hastings)."
