Esther Blanton was born 20 Aug 1851 in North Carolina. She was the daughter of Elijah Blanton and Sarah Ann Phillips. Her mother died when Esther was very young, so she was reared by her father and her stepmother, Nancy Harrill.

On 5 Jan 1883 a license was issued in Rutherford County, North Carolina for the marriage of Esther Blanton, daughter of E. Blanton, and Robert James. Witnesses were D. N. Hamrick, J. R. Cooper, and E. Blanton. The ceremony was performed on 11 Feb 1883 by L. C. White, Methodist Minister.[4][5]

Easter James was named in the Will of her father, Elijah Blanton, in 1884.[6]

Easter (Esther) Blanton and Robert Glenworth James were the parents of Martha Taylor James McHam who was born 10 Dec 1883 in Ellenboro, Rutherford County, North Carolina.[7][8]

Esther Blanton and Robert G. James were the parents of Veronica James Hawkins who was born 10 Jul 1885 in Rutherford County, North Carolina.[9]

Esther Blanton James passed away 15 Oct 1885. She was buried in Oak Grove United Methodist Church Cemetery, Ellenboro, Rutherford County, North Carolina.[10][11]
